Outta Here
I'm outta here. That's it. It's been a freakishly busy few weeks (as you may have noticed by the lack of blog entries). Several smallish events, and then the Big Event of Back to School Night for Emily's preschool, where we did our major fundraising. I did the Madame President thing, emceed, passed around gifts, talked to people, told bad jokes on the microphone, etc.
Now, I'm packing for a Mom's Spa Weekend in Lake Tahoe. The same cabin where I stayed with the girls in August. I am so looking forward to this! Grownup conversation!
Although, I already miss my family. I haven't had that much time with them anyway for the last few weeks...so much so that I think Emily doesn't know she lives here, she's had so many people watching her for me. Oh well, maybe I can bring her a nice guilt gift when I come home. And Sarah, too, for allowing me to neglect her a lot during the last few weeks.
So, I leave tomorrow afternoon for Reno, then a drive up to Tahoe. I'll return Sunday night. I hope the cleaning genies come while I'm gone!
Forgive me for not updating about Poppy and the girls, as well as Scott. So much going on there just hasn't been time to type it all. Briefly, Poppy is still in the convalescent hospital; bone doc says his hip continues to heal wonderfully. Too bad Poppy is still confused. It will be a few weeks before he can return to his apartment. Sarah's soccer team managed to keep their #1 position in their division; but they need to keep winning games. If they lose one game, their one-point lead goes away, and the three teams tied for 2nd, plus the four teams tied for 3rd place, move up, making out Galaxy Girls the 8th place team. Those other seven can't all win; so maybe it's not actually bad, but our coach sure "encourages" the girls to play more aggressively as well as dribble better. Sarah is becoming quite the nice young lady, doing thoughtful things for others (finally!), and trying to be very nice to her sister. Maybe all those scraming fits I've had about being nice to each other and showing love for each other are beginning to work! She continues her piano lessons and seems to love playing.
Emily loves preschool; she decided that she will marry Cougar as well as Brendan. Progressive, that little girl! She's tall for her age, and is very talkative, even more so than Sarah ever was. She gets home from school and nonstop talks and runs around and talks and shows me everything, and sings. She definitely is joyful! I love having her around and miss her when she's in school.
Scott has been fairly ill for the past 5-6 weeks. He came home with a cough from Reno when he attended the Air Races in September, and it not only didn't go away after time, it got worse. When he finally was able to see a doctor, the diagnosis was asthma and steroids were prescribed. He still didn't get better, and I finally got involved, called the doctors and got him to urgent care. The docs there diagnosed bronchitis, and maybe walking pneumonia and prescribed antibiotics, plus gave him a nebulizer treatment. That was last night, and today he seems better but very fatigued.
As for me, I'm going to relax in Tahoe for a few days, have fun with my virtual sisters, give a toast to our late friend, dring champagne and whatever else is offered. Then I'll come home and try to get back to normal routines.
It wasn't as short as I thought it would be, but there it is. I'll try this writing thing again when I return from Tahoe, or maybe while I'm there.
Good Weekend to All!

Have fun!! I so wish I could go too.
I hope DH and your father feel better soon and I'm sure the girls will be fine.
