Halloween

Well, it's upon us. Four straight days of celebrating one day. Fun though...today was BD2's parade and trick or treating at her preschool. The students, in costume, paraded in their playground, and went from one cardboard structure to another collecting goodies. I was the appointed photographer, and I just hope I did them justice. They were all adorable.

BD2 is a Tinkerbell/butterfly this year. Her costume is a little confused. She played today with "Peter Pan", and was all a twitter talking about him after school. "Mommy, I ran away from Peter Pan, and he chased me. He called me a nice girl. He's a nice boy, too." "Can I see his pictures again, Mommy?" On and on she went about this Peter Pan. He is cute, even when not in costume.

Tomorrow is BD1's parade through the school. Beginning with the Kindergarten students, every class goes through the other classes, and as they pass through, the other classes join the line, making a very long line of students in costume. They are supposed to bring or wear some clothing to change into after the parade.

BD1 is going to be a white poodle. We were relieved and excited to receive it in the mail today (Thanks to Julia). I really hoped I wouldn't be up this late sewing ears and gluing cotton balls to sweats so she could still be a poodle. Whew!

The goody bags for the students in BD1's class are already packed. I wish I had an orange stamp pad...I could decorate the bags. I feel so organized! (I hope it goes well tomorrow morning!)

Anyway, tomorrow night is the pumpkin carving event at BD1's school, beginning at 6:00. I have been volunteered to run a booth of some sort--probably the tattoo parlor (I must look the type). BD2 and I will run to Target or somewhere to find pumpkins, then gut them to be ready for both tomorrow night's festivities, and our own, traditional carving night on Saturday.

We have a soccer game at 8:30 Saturday morning, that is, if it doesn't rain some more. Then Saturday will be a mix of (possible) apple picking, pumpkin carving, baking, and hopefully not spending time in the hospital with my father again.

I plan on sleeping very, very late, on Sunday morning. I may sleep with a mask and ear plugs.

Sunday night, DH will take the girls t or t'ing, and I'll stay home to pass out goodies. We will all sleep off our sugar attacks, and start over again on Monday morning. What do you do with all that candy? It's fun; boy, it's a lot of fun, but it sure seems like a waste of money to buy all that candy to give to someone else's child, whose parent will give their candy/goodies to your child, and she'll bring it back home.

I wonder if the Halloween Fairy will come this year. Sometimes we put a bag of goodies from our cache from trick or treating, and the Halloween Fairy comes, takes it away, and leaves a gift. She takes the candy to children who don't get to go t or t'ing, and don't get any goodies, either. Less cavities for my kid, that's for sure! (Thank you Texas Mom for that idea!)
