Long time no see me, eh?

Here's a quick update. Not a lot to tell, except I'm drowning in paperwork--for the girls, for my dad, for me, all kinds of paperwork and calendaring. I feel like an executive secretary for a somewhat large company! Here's some of the low down:

I'm swamped with paperwork for the girls' activities and things for the school, but I just needed to step in and say "Hi"

DH took the day off today, and we looked at carpet/wood flooring. We are getting new carpet and fake wood flooring in our family room, dining room, and hallways!!!

The house might look pretty good in a few weeks!! The dining room is pretty much done; we have a new dining room set, complete with china hutch/thingy what ever it's called. 8 Chairs, and in the dark sort of "cherry mahogany" finish. It's an oval pedestal table, so if someone has to sit on the "corner", no body has to straddle the legs. What I've wanted for years!

I think (just maybe, don't want to count chickens yet) that I'm done with my dad's paperwork. Let's see if we get any kind of bennies from all the legwork I've done. We did get a little refund from the skilled nursing center, because Medi-Cal accepted his application backdated his approval, so we got a couple of months refunded. That was a nice surprise.

We're having a yard sale this Saturday--I'm really crazy tho--I thought I placed an ad in the local freebie paper, and I did, but I neglected to give an address!! There may not be very many shoppers.

I gotta go...laundry, some more paperwork for the PTA, and Daddy's Home!!! Yippee!!

What a Sweet Thing to Do!

Just a quick entry before I take the kids to school. My beautiful dd’s yesterday did a very sweet thing for me. I think maybe they like me after all!

I crashed on my youngest dd’s bed after they got out of school. I thought it would only be for a few minutes. The next thing I knew, there was a blanket over me, and I held a teddy bear (my youngest’s favorite). I thought it was so sweet, that they cared for my comfort while I napped. I realized too, that they had been very quiet, had cooperated with each other the whole time I slept. Then I realized that it was 5:pm, and too late for Emily to get to her soccer practice. Bad mommy!!

I just had to write about it; I thought it was so sweet!

A little Friday Update--First Week of School

A friend suggested that I post 10 things I think people like about me next week...I may do that just to counter the negative!

We're doing well...I am a Disney Widow now..Scott's production is in hyper-drive mode, and he's gone from 7:am until 10:pm, so single mom I am for about the next 3-4 months. It won't be that bad, but it will be a challenge!

Emily started kindergarten this week. She loves it!! She makes me do her hair every morning in a pony tail, and wears all her cute new school clothes. Her teacher is the same teacher Sarah had in the first grade. The school assigned Em to a K/1st combination class. There are 10 Kinders and 10 First graders, and she feels really special to be in a class with first graders.

Sarah is in the 4th grade, and so far she loves it too. She's a good student; she loves school. I think it's because it's so boring at home--she'll go to school just to break the monotony! 8^) Scott and I are holding our breaths until homework sets in and the "real" 4th grade starts--right now it's review and she finishes her homework in about 10 minutes every night. We hope she still likes school after the "real" homework starts coming home.
